**Jaipur, Rajasthan –** A 19-year-old Dalit youth from Sikar district, Rajasthan, has accused two men of beating, urinating on, and sexually assaulting him, police confirmed on Sunday. The incident allegedly occurred on April 8th, but a First Information Report (FIR) was filed only on April 16th after the victim’s family reported the crime.
According to police, the youth was lured to a secluded location under false pretenses while watching a wedding procession. The accused, reportedly intoxicated, physically assaulted him, including in his private parts, forced him to undress, and committed unnatural sex acts. They allegedly recorded the assault and threatened to release the video online if he reported the incident. The victim further alleged the use of casteist slurs during the attack.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Arvind Kumar stated that an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and an investigation is underway. The victim has undergone a medical examination, and his statement has been recorded.
The delay in reporting the crime was attributed to the severity of the trauma experienced by the young man. Opposition leaders, including former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully, criticized the BJP government’s handling of the situation, highlighting the incident as evidence of a breakdown in law and order. They condemned the attack and called for swift justice.
