**VISAKHAPATNAM, INDIA (April 19, 2025)** – Visakhapatnam city police announced a significant success in combating property crime, recovering stolen goods worth ₹95.40 lakh (approximately $1.15 million USD) during a recent crackdown. Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi revealed that special investigation teams solved 85 out of 130 property crime cases reported in March. The investigation utilized technical methods and thorough inquiries, leading to the arrest of 112 individuals.
Recovered items included ₹47.40 lakh in property, 320 stolen mobile phones valued at ₹48 lakh, 1.02 kg of gold ornaments, 1.61 kg of silver ornaments, and ₹9.49 lakh in cash. The solved cases included robberies, house burglaries, snatchings, and motorcycle thefts.
In addition to the investigations, police implemented crime prevention measures, installing 755 CCTV cameras across the city and conducting 183 crime awareness meetings. Commissioner Bagchi emphasized the importance of public awareness and CCTV camera installation in crime prevention. Stolen property was returned to victims, who expressed gratitude for the police’s efforts.
