Jaipur, April 19, 2025 – Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old cricketer, has made history by becoming the youngest player ever to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Rajasthan Royals (RR) introduced Suryavanshi as an impact player during their match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Jaipur.

Suryavanshi, born on March 27, 2011, in Tajpur, Bihar, was purchased by RR for a whopping ₹1.1 crore in the mega auction. His inclusion in the match, following LSG captain Rishabh Pant’s decision to bat first after winning the toss, marks a significant moment in IPL history. At 14 years and 23 days old, he surpasses all previous records for youngest player.

Suryavanshi’s cricketing journey began at the age of four. He’s already established himself as a prodigious talent, having made his first-class debut for Bihar in January 2024 at the remarkably young age of 12 years and 284 days, another record. He further showcased his skill with a century against Australia in an Under-19 match.

His performance in the Under-19 match against Australia, where he scored a century off just 58 balls, had already attracted significant attention.
