**Puducherry, April 19, 2025** – Officials from the Villupuram district administration and the Auroville Foundation met today to discuss Auroville’s development plans. The meeting, held at the Villupuram Collectorate, focused on accelerating development in line with the original 1968 master plan.
Key projects discussed included improvements to Crown Road and the Matrimandir lake. The district collector pledged to resolve land ownership issues. The Auroville Foundation outlined plans for significant infrastructure development to accommodate its projected 50,000 residents, including schools, housing, and an ambitious 18-storey building. Support was also secured for a new VIP road, utilizing Auroville’s expertise and central government grants. The meeting was attended by key officials including Villupuram District Collector S.
