**ERODE, INDIA (April 19, 2025)** – A 28-year-old man from West Bengal died after being assaulted by a mob following a home invasion in Kollampalayam Housing Unit, Erode. Police have arrested the homeowner’s son, Manikanda Boopathi, in connection with the death.
The incident began on April 17th when an unidentified man, later identified as S. Roby Oran, broke into the home of 70-year-old Subramani, a retired bus conductor. After Oran allegedly slit Subramani’s throat, his wife raised the alarm. Neighbors apprehended Oran and assaulted him before handing him over to the Erode South police. Oran subsequently died at the Government Headquarters Hospital.
Police have charged Boopathi with murder, and further arrests are anticipated as the investigation continues. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of mob violence in India.
