**Ahmedabad:** Gujarat Titans secured a thrilling victory over Delhi Capitals on Saturday at the Narendra Modi Stadium, chasing down a challenging 204-run target. A breezy 50-run stand between Sai Sudharsan (36) and Jos Buttler laid the foundation for the chase before Sudharsan’s dismissal. Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford then steered the Titans home with some crucial big hits, despite a late surge from Delhi Capitals.
Delhi Capitals’ innings had been punctuated by a late flourish from Ashutosh Sharma (37 off 19), who propelled the team to 203/8, adding a valuable four off the final ball delivered by Kuldeep Yadav. Earlier, a 53-run partnership between Axar Patel (39) and Tristan Stubbs (31) had propelled their score, before Stubbs fell victim to a reverse scoop. Prasidh Krishna (4/41) had earlier claimed two wickets in a single over, removing Axar Patel and Vipraj Nigam, but Ashutosh’s consecutive sixes in the same over offset Krishna’s success. KL Rahul (28) and Karun Nair (31) also contributed significantly to the Capitals’ score, but were dismissed by Prasidh Krishna and Arshad Khan respectively. Arshad had also picked up the early wicket of Abhishek Porel (18).
Gujarat Titans, despite losing Shubman Gill early through a run-out, managed to keep the required run rate manageable, eventually sealing a hard-fought victory. The win sees Gujarat Titans bounce back after their previous defeat to the Lucknow Super Giants.
