Fri Apr 18 16:00:55 UTC 2025: **Bengaluru Cobbler’s E-Khata Application Rejected Due to BBMP Clerical Error**

**Bengaluru, April 18, 2025** – A clerical error in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) records has led to the rejection of a Bengaluru cobbler’s e-khata application. V. Subramani, a long-time resident, had his application rejected due to an incorrect Property Identification Number (PID) that doesn’t exist in official records. The error, stemming from manual data entry, is reportedly not an isolated incident, with numerous similar complaints surfacing.

Subramani, who possesses a valid khatha certificate and has consistently paid property taxes since 2014, discovered the issue while applying for an e-khata. Despite providing all necessary documentation, including proof of tax payments and his original khatha, his application was rejected.

M. Pari, a former BBMP councillor assisting Subramani, highlights that the incorrect PID was entered during manual record-keeping. While the system allows for PID correction, the Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) allegedly continues to reject applications, suggesting a possible bribery scheme. A BBMP revenue department source confirms that at least 10 similar applications are rejected monthly, despite the possibility of administrative rectification.

The issue has been reported to BBMP officials, but no action has been taken against the implicated AROs. The incident underscores concerns about efficiency and potential corruption within the BBMP’s e-khata process.
