Thu Apr 17 04:20:00 UTC 2025: **IRCTC Denies Changes to Tatkal Ticket Booking System**
NEW DELHI – The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has issued a statement denying recent social media reports claiming changes to the Tatkal ticket booking system. The clarification, posted on X (formerly Twitter), follows numerous misleading posts alleging altered booking times for both AC and non-AC classes, as well as for agents.
The IRCTC confirmed that no changes have been implemented to the Tatkal or Premium Tatkal booking timings. Booking for AC classes (2A, 3A, CC, EC, 3E) remains open at 10:00 AM IST, and at 11:00 AM IST for non-AC classes (SL, FC, 2S), one day prior to the journey date, excluding the day of travel from the originating station. The system remains unchanged for agents as well.
Tatkal tickets, offering last-minute bookings for select trains, are available for all classes except First AC, with a maximum of four passengers per PNR. A surcharge of 10% of the base fare applies to second class, and 30% for all other classes, subject to minimum and maximum limits. Note that confirmed Tatkal tickets are non-refundable.
The IRCTC urges passengers to rely solely on official sources, such as the IRCTC website and app, for accurate travel and ticketing information.
