Thu Apr 17 04:20:00 UTC 2025: ## McDavid Returns for Oilers’ Season Finale Despite Injury Concerns

**SAN JOSE, CA** – Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid will play in the team’s regular-season finale against the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night, despite being rested for precautionary reasons on Monday. While McDavid could reach the 100-point mark in the game, Coach Kris Knoblauch emphasized the focus is on playoff readiness, not milestones.

The Oilers will be without several key players, including Leon Draisaitl, Trent Frederic, Zach Hyman, Evander Kane, Jake Walman, and John Klingberg. However, Knoblauch expressed confidence that most will be available for Game 1 of their first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Kings. The only exception is Mattias Ekholm.

Despite Darnell Nurse’s one-game suspension and a significant injury list, the Oilers will still be one player short in Wednesday’s game, fielding only 12 forwards and five defensemen. Emergency call-up Connor Carrick from the Bakersfield Condors will not see ice time.

Goaltender Stuart Skinner will start for Edmonton. The game offers a final tune-up before the Oilers face the Kings in the playoffs, starting either Sunday or Monday.
