**Bengaluru, April 17, 2025** – A 22-year-old engineering student, Harsha, was arrested by the Soladevanahalli police on April 16 for allegedly attacking his parents and sister with a knife at their rented home in Vinayaka Layout, Medarahalli. The incident occurred on April 15 at approximately 3 a.m.

According to police, Harsha, his parents Krishnamurthy (52) and Parvathamma (48), and his sister Nayana (24), moved into the house two months ago. Nayana is a recent graduate seeking employment, while Harsha is currently enrolled in an engineering program.

Two days prior to the attack, Harsha reportedly exhibited symptoms of anxiety, fear, and depression, but refused his family’s suggestion to seek professional help. He allegedly locked the house from the inside, armed himself with a kitchen knife, and attacked his family members. The victims resisted, throwing chili powder at Harsha in an attempt to defend themselves.

Neighbors, alerted by the commotion, contacted the police. Officers arrived, forced entry into the home, and found the family injured. They were transported to a private hospital and are reportedly recovering. Harsha was subsequently arrested and charged with assault and attempted murder. The investigation is ongoing.
