**Chennai, April 17, 2025** – Members of the AIADMK walked out of the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Wednesday in protest after their request to raise a no-confidence motion against three DMK ministers was denied by Speaker M. Appavu.
Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami sought to debate the motion under Rule 72, citing alleged misconduct by Ministers K.N. Nehru, K. Ponmudy, and V. Senthilbalaji. Palaniswami specifically criticized Ponmudy’s recent remarks deemed offensive to Hindu religious sentiments and past derogatory comments against women. He also referenced Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigations into Nehru’s relatives and raids at Tasmac, demanding government explanation.
Speaker Appavu initially stated the matter was under consideration, but ultimately refused the request, prompting the AIADMK’s walkout. The party condemned the Speaker’s decision.
