Thu Apr 17 03:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Syracuse Orange Faces Transfer Portal Exodus After Successful Season
**Syracuse, NY –** The Syracuse Orange football team, fresh off a 10-3 season and a Holiday Bowl victory, is facing a significant exodus of players to the NCAA transfer portal. The portal officially opens Wednesday, and Syracuse has already seen its 13th player enter, wide receiver Trebor Pena.
Pena, a five-year contributor, had a breakout 2024 season, accumulating career highs in receptions (84), yards (941), and touchdowns (9). However, his overall production throughout his Syracuse career was limited. He’ll have only one year of eligibility remaining at his next school.
Other notable departures include defensive lineman Michael Nwokocha (transferring to Texas State), cornerback Marcellus Barnes (SMU), and quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson (Marshall). These losses come as a setback for the Orange, who enjoyed a resurgence under first-year head coach Fran Brown. The team will now need to address these roster gaps as they prepare for the upcoming season.
