Tue Apr 15 08:54:35 UTC 2025: ## Belagavi Train Derailment Causes Three-Hour Delay
**Belagavi, Karnataka, April 15, 2025** – Train services on the Belagavi-Miraj route were disrupted for approximately three hours this morning following the derailment of two goods wagons near the Military Mahadev temple in Belagavi. The incident, which occurred around 7:30 a.m., involved a goods train carrying iron ore from the JSW factory.
Two wagons slid from the tracks, with one obstructing the opposite line, halting traffic on both up and down lines. South Western Railway (SWR) officials immediately closed all four lines at Belagavi station – the two main lines, a line to the coaching depot, and an additional line – to facilitate repairs. Nine trains were affected by the disruption.
An accident relief train was dispatched from Hubballi to expedite track restoration. SWR reported that the affected section of track was cleared by 10 a.m., and all previously scheduled trains resumed their routes. No trains were diverted or cancelled, according to an SWR bulletin. SWR officials made arrangements for affected passengers at the respective stations. The General Manager (SWR) and other senior officers closely monitored the situation. Train services returned to normal by midday.
