**Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh –** Tension gripped Sankavaram village in Kakinada district on Tuesday following the alleged desecration of a Dr. B. R. Ambedkar statue. Villagers, discovering the incident in the morning, staged a protest demanding the immediate arrest of the perpetrators. The statue had reportedly been garlanded with chappals.
Responding to the protest, police from the Peddapuram division arrived on the scene. Peddapuram Deputy Superintendent of Police D. Srihari Raju confirmed the incident, stating that the chappals had been removed and an investigation was underway. Following assurances from the police, the villagers called off their protest but urged a swift resolution to the case.
