Tue Apr 15 14:06:09 UTC 2025: ## Jordan Foils Major Terror Plot, Arrests 16 Suspected Muslim Brotherhood Members

**Amman, Jordan** – Jordanian authorities announced the arrest of 16 individuals on Tuesday, disrupting a significant plot against national security that involved the illegal manufacture and importation of rockets, explosives, and the operation of a drone factory. The General Intelligence Department revealed the suspects, allegedly linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, were planning to recruit and train operatives in Jordan and Lebanon.

A security source stated that at least one rocket, with a range of 3-5 kilometers, was ready for launch. The weapons were discovered in a secret hideout near Amman. The plot, under surveillance since 2021, involved a sophisticated operation including a drone production facility. The suspects are to face trial in the state security court.

Government spokesperson Mohammad al Momani stated that confessions from the suspects, some allegedly trained in Lebanon, will be broadcast. He highlighted the advanced nature of the plot, emphasizing the use of rockets and drones represents a shift in tactics by the Muslim Brotherhood. Security analyst Amer Al Sabaileh echoed this sentiment, describing the plot as a significant escalation in the group’s methods.

Authorities claim the operation is connected to Iran and its allies, aiming to destabilize Jordan. This assertion follows a year of reported attempts to smuggle weapons into Jordan by pro-Iranian groups and Palestinian groups based in Lebanon. Some of these weapons were reportedly destined for the West Bank. The large quantity of explosives found has led officials to classify the plot as terrorism-related. Jordan’s strategic importance as a US ally, hosting over 3,500 American troops, is considered a key factor in the alleged Iranian-backed plot. Recent missile attacks targeting Jordan, linked to Iran and sparked by the Gaza conflict, further fueled concerns about regional security.
