Tue Apr 15 16:13:21 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad High Court Orders Probe into Illegal Constructions in Manikonda Jagir

**Hyderabad, April 15, 2025** – The Hyderabad High Court has ordered a detailed investigation into rampant illegal construction in Manikonda Jagir village, Rangareddy district. Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) Commissioners to submit a comprehensive report by July 2nd detailing the extent of unauthorized building activity.

The order follows a contempt of court petition filed by the Maninagar Colony Plots Members Protection Welfare Society, alleging inaction by authorities despite a March 14, 2023, High Court order to maintain the status quo. The petitioners presented photographic and video evidence of continued illegal construction.

The court’s directive requires the report to include:

* The total number of existing constructions in Manikonda Jagir.
* The number of buildings constructed with and without permission.
* The number of buildings deviating from approved plans.
* Actions taken against illegal structures under the GHMC Act, including disconnections of electricity and water supply.
* Actions taken or planned against GHMC officials for failing to prevent illegal construction.

Justice Bhaskar Reddy criticized the GHMC and government departments for seemingly encouraging illegal constructions, stating that stringent action is needed. Failure to submit the report will result in the Commissioners appearing before the court personally. The judge expressed concerns that the GHMC and HMDA have not effectively implemented previous court orders.
