Mon Apr 14 05:52:00 UTC 2025: ## US Airstrikes in Yemen Kill at Least Six, Houthis Claim Drone Down

**Sanaa, Yemen —** Suspected US airstrikes in Yemen’s rebel-held capital, Sanaa, have killed at least six people and injured 26, according to Houthi reports on Monday. The Houthis also claimed responsibility for shooting down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone.

The strikes, part of an intensified US campaign launched nearly a month ago under President Donald Trump, have reportedly killed over 120 people, according to Houthi casualty figures. The US Central Command has not confirmed the strikes, maintaining its pattern of silence regarding specific targets in the operation authorized by the White House. The White House, however, has stated that over 200 strikes have been conducted.

The downed drone marks the fourth claimed by the Houthis in two weeks, according to Houthi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, who stated it was targeted with a locally manufactured missile. While Iran denies arming the Houthis, Tehran-manufactured weaponry has been found in Yemen.

This new US operation under President Trump, according to an Associated Press review, appears more extensive than under the previous administration, targeting not only launch sites but also high-ranking personnel and urban areas. The campaign, triggered by Houthi threats to target vessels linked to Israel, follows a period of increased Houthi attacks on merchant ships, including unsuccessful attacks on American warships. The Trump administration also links the airstrikes to pressure Iran over its nuclear program. The US campaign, showing no signs of abating, raises concerns about the escalating conflict in Yemen.
