Mon Apr 14 06:57:47 UTC 2025: ## Rajasthan Sizzles Under Rising Temperatures; Heatwave Warning Issued

**Jaipur, April 13** – Rajasthan is bracing for a significant heatwave, with temperatures soaring across the state. Barmer recorded the highest temperature on Sunday at a scorching 44 degrees Celsius, 5 degrees above normal. This follows a period of dry weather and the dissipation of a previous western disturbance.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a further temperature rise of up to 5 degrees Celsius over the next four to five days. A new heatwave is expected to begin in western Rajasthan from Monday, April 14th, intensifying on April 15th and 16th, particularly affecting Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Shekhawati regions. Some areas may experience extreme heatwave conditions, with temperatures potentially reaching 45-46 degrees Celsius, especially in border districts.

While a weak western disturbance might bring light to moderate thunderstorms to eastern Rajasthan on April 17th and 18th, temperatures will remain high.

The IMD has issued alerts for several districts. A yellow alert for heatwave conditions is in place for Jaisalmer on Monday, with hot winds predicted for Barmer, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Sriganganagar on Tuesday. An orange alert has been issued for Sriganganagar, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Bikaner on April 16th, and extends to April 17th for the same districts. Several other districts are under yellow alerts on April 17th.

The public is advised to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours and take precautions against heatstroke.
