**Nagapattinam, April 12, 2025** – Residents of Thalainyar Town Panchayat in Nagapattinam district are demanding an upgrade to their severely inadequate bus stand, citing a lack of basic amenities and insufficient space to accommodate the growing number of passengers. The current bus stand, located along the main road, suffers from overcrowding, a lack of drinking water, restrooms, seating, and shelter, causing significant hardship for passengers, particularly students and those traveling to hospitals in neighboring towns.
Kamal Ram, district secretary of the Thamizhaga Cauvery Vivasayigal Sangam, advocated for a new, larger bus terminus with improved facilities, including proper restrooms, seating, and commercial establishments. He emphasized that upgrading the transport infrastructure is crucial, especially considering Thalainyar’s long-standing request for taluk status.
Town Panchayat officials have confirmed ongoing discussions to build a new bus stand and indicated that a proposal will soon be submitted to the government for approval.
