**Varanasi, April 11, 2025** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 44 development projects worth ₹3,880 crore in his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi. The initiatives, spanning rural and urban development, include infrastructure upgrades, educational improvements, and enhanced public services.
Among the inaugurated projects are 130 drinking water schemes, 100 new Anganwadi centers, 356 libraries, a polytechnic college in Pindra, a government degree college, a transit hostel at the Police Lines, police barracks in Ramnagar, and four rural roads. Urban development projects included improvements at Shastri Ghat and Samne Ghat, along with beautification projects undertaken by the Railways and the Varanasi Development Authority (VDA).
Future projects, for which foundation stones were laid, prioritize electricity infrastructure strengthening. This includes the construction of 15 new substations, the installation of new transformers, and the laying of 1,500 km of new power lines. A new 220 kV substation near Chaukaghat aims to ensure a 24-hour uninterrupted power supply. Further infrastructure development includes the laying of a tunnel for airport expansion, three new flyovers, road widening initiatives, school renovations, and the construction of two new stadiums.
The Prime Minister addressed a public meeting in Rohaniya’s Mehndiganj, held on the Ring Road to mitigate traffic and heat concerns. A large security deployment, including over 4,000 personnel, ensured the Prime Minister’s safety.
