Fri Apr 11 15:57:39 UTC 2025: ## Ramanathapuram Police Seize Large Beedi Leaf Smuggling Haul
**Ramanathapuram, April 11, 2025** – Ramanathapuram marine police foiled a large-scale beedi leaf smuggling operation on Friday morning, seizing 2,280 kg of beedi leaves worth ₹12 lakh. The leaves were discovered in two goods vehicles parked suspiciously on Sethupathi Nagar 2nd Street.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Tariqkul Amin raided the area. Upon discovering the vehicles, they found 76 bags containing 30 kg of beedi leaves each. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived. Authorities seized the vehicles and the contraband.
Investigations suggest the beedi leaves were destined for Sri Lanka via sea. Further investigations are underway.
