Fri Apr 11 16:11:48 UTC 2025: ## US Space Force Commander Fired for Defying Trump’s Greenland Annexation Policy
**WASHINGTON, April 11, 2025** – Col. Susan Meyers, commander of the Pituffik Space Base in Greenland, has been removed from her post for expressing support for Denmark and Greenland following a visit by Vice President JD Vance. The Space Force cited a “loss of confidence” in her leadership, stating that commanders must remain non-partisan.
Meyers’ dismissal stems from a base-wide email defending the base’s relationship with Denmark and Greenland, contradicting official messaging aligned with President Trump’s push to annex the Danish territory. A US official confirmed the email’s content, which reportedly voiced support for Greenland and Denmark.
President Trump’s desire to annex Greenland, citing national security concerns, has created significant tension with Denmark, a NATO ally. Following Vance’s late March visit, which further escalated the situation, Trump refused to rule out military force.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell linked the firing to the need to uphold the chain of command and President Trump’s agenda, stating that actions to undermine either “will not be tolerated.”
Meyers’ dismissal is the latest in a series of high-profile firings of senior military leaders under the Trump administration, including several women: Adm. Lisa Franchetti, Adm. Linda Fagan, and Vice Adm. Shoshana Chatfield. Additionally, Gen. CQ Brown Jr. and Gen. Tim Haugh were also terminated.
