Fri Apr 11 15:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Chennai Super Kings Collapse to Historic Low Score Against Kolkata Knight Riders

**Chennai, India** – The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 25th match of IPL 2025, posting their lowest ever IPL score at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Batting first after KKR won the toss, CSK were bowled out for a paltry 103 runs in 20 overs, their second lowest total overall.

The CSK innings was a disaster from the start. Openers Ruturaj Gaikwad’s absence (replaced by Rahul Tripathi) and Devon Conway fell early, setting the tone for a disastrous batting display. While Shivam Dube top-scored with an unbeaten 31, no other batsman could offer significant resistance. Vijay Shankar contributed 29, but the rest of the batting line-up crumbled under pressure from KKR’s spinners and pacers. Sunil Narine took 3 wickets, while Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana claimed 2 each. Even captain MS Dhoni, playing his first game as captain this season, managed only 1 run before being LBW.

KKR made one change to their playing XI, bringing in Moeen Ali for Spencer Johnson, while CSK made two changes, bringing in Rahul Tripathi for Ruturaj Gaikwad and debutant Anshul Kamboj for Mukesh Kumar.

The low total left CSK with little chance of victory, and although KKR had a slow start in their chase, their target was easily manageable. The match highlighted CSK’s struggles against spin bowling, and their inability to build partnerships. The team’s batting performance was widely criticized as abysmal. The win keeps KKR’s playoff hopes alive, while CSK faces increasing pressure to turn their fortunes around.
