Thu Apr 10 15:23:22 UTC 2025: ## J&K Crackdown Follows Amit Shah’s Visit: Separatist Properties Seized, Employees Fired
**Srinagar, April 10, 2025** – Two days after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), authorities launched a significant crackdown on alleged anti-national activities. The Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, dismissed two government employees, Basharat Ahmad Mir and Ishtiyak Ahmed Malik, invoking Article 311, bypassing departmental inquiries based on intelligence reports. Mir, a J&K Police wireless operator, allegedly shared sensitive information with Pakistan, while Malik, a Public Works Department employee, was linked to Jamaat-e-Islami and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Simultaneous police raids targeted separatist leaders’ homes in Srinagar and Pulwama, seizing incriminating materials. In Ganderbal, authorities attached agricultural land worth ₹3.47 crores belonging to three individuals who allegedly received arms training in Pakistan. Further, police attached land belonging to an individual who absconded to Pakistan in a separate case.
This wave of action follows Mr. Shah’s visit, where he urged security agencies to build on progress made since the revocation of J&K’s special status in 2019. The actions are being seen as a direct response to his directives.
Adding another layer to the situation, a prominent female separatist leader, Fareeda Behangi, publicly renounced separatism, becoming the twelfth leader to do so recently. She pledged loyalty to India and its constitution.
Despite the heightened security measures, anti-militancy operations in Udhampur and Kishtwar districts continue, though no militant casualties have been reported as of yet. Meanwhile, a routine flag meeting between Indian and Pakistani army officials took place in Poonch, according to the Indian Army.
