**Bengaluru, April 10, 2025** – A contemporary dance performance titled “C. Tactile” will premiere at Medai-The Stage in Bengaluru on April 11th at 7 pm. The full-length duet, choreographed by Mumbai-based artist Shruti Maria Datar, explores the complexities of female identity in a world shaped by the male gaze.
Datar, a trained Bharatanatyam dancer with additional contemporary dance training from Danscentrumjette, Belgium, uses movement to convey themes of identity, culture, and human emotion. Collaborating with Melitta Dsouza and featuring original music by Adriel George, the performance uses the dancers’ bodies as “canvases of resistance, vulnerability, and resilience,” according to Datar.
The choreography delves into the contradictions of touch, examining its capacity to both nurture and wound, connect and isolate. The performance considers touch from personal and socio-political perspectives, showcasing the dancers’ bodies as storytellers and sites of transformation.
“C. Tactile” is produced by The Movement Arts Co., an initiative supporting emerging choreographers and promoting dance education. Tickets are required for the performance.
