**Hyderabad, April 10, 2025** – Telangana’s ambitious T-Fiber project, aiming to provide high-speed broadband connectivity across the state, is moving beyond its initial pilot phase. IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu announced the expansion at the inauguration of T-Fiber’s new Hyderabad office on Thursday.
The project has already connected 8,891 gram panchayats and 424 mandals with its optical fiber network, with 7,187 gram panchayats in 336 mandals now service-ready. The government plans to connect 30,000 government institutions this year, with a goal of reaching 90,000 by 2027.
Minister Babu launched a range of new services and signed MoUs with several industry partners. These include T-NxT, a next-generation service portfolio offering solutions like Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, a sovereign cloud platform, and an AI-powered virtual assistant. The project boasts a 43,000 km optical fiber network, making it one of the largest in India.
The government aims to provide every household with a smart TV and access to multiple services through the last-mile fiber connectivity. T-Fiber also plans to expand its services to businesses and mobile towers. The project is collaborating with L&T Metro and TGSPDCL to establish backbone connectivity in Hyderabad and will take over existing infrastructure in several districts from BSNL. The successful pilot program connected 4,000 homes across four villages.
