Thu Apr 10 17:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Colts Release Kicker Matt Gay, Saving Cap Space

**Indianapolis, IN** – The Indianapolis Colts have released kicker Matt Gay, the team announced Thursday. The move leaves Spencer Shrader as the lone kicker on the Colts’ 90-man roster.

Gay, who rejoined the Colts this year on a four-year deal, had a successful two-season stint with the team, converting 64 of 78 field goals and 68 of 69 extra points. His release frees up $2.75 million in cap space for Indianapolis, although it will result in $4 million in dead money in 2025.

Gay previously spent time on the Colts’ practice squad in 2020 before moving on to the Los Angeles Rams. Shrader, who signed with the Colts earlier this year, will now be tasked with handling kicking duties. The Colts have not yet commented on whether they plan to add another kicker to the roster.
