**Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh –** A 24-year-old man, Raj Arya, died by suicide at his home in Izzatnagar, Bareilly, on Wednesday, allegedly due to a marital dispute, police confirmed Thursday. Arya, who had a four-month-old daughter with his wife Simran (23), reportedly took his life after a series of escalating arguments.
The couple, who had a love marriage in April 2024, had recently both lost their jobs, adding to existing marital tensions. According to family members, a major argument approximately ten days prior led Simran to leave for her parents’ home. On Wednesday morning, Simran allegedly posted two Instagram status updates, one claiming to have filed a police complaint against Arya and stating he would be jailed by 10:30 am, and a subsequent post stating, “Now go to jail.” Later that evening, Arya was found hanging from a ceiling fan. Before the incident, he reportedly told his mother, “Maa, I’m going to sleep forever.”
Police are investigating the incident and have sent Arya’s body for a post-mortem. Circle Officer Ajay Kumar stated that further legal proceedings will be initiated upon receiving a formal complaint from the family. The circumstances surrounding Simran’s social media posts and their potential connection to Arya’s suicide are under investigation.
