Thu Apr 10 04:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Indian Banks Closed for Multiple Holidays This Week

**NEW DELHI –** All banks across India, including SBI, are closed today, April 10th, for Mahavir Jayanti. Further closures are scheduled for April 12th (second Saturday) and April 13th (Sunday). This creates an extended weekend in some states, with April 14th and 15th also being holidays in certain regions due to Ambedkar Jayanti and various state-specific festivals like Bengali New Year, Bohag Bihu, and Himachal Day.

While the standard bank holidays include the second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays, individual banks may have additional local holidays. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) publishes the complete annual holiday list in January. Customers are advised to confirm holiday schedules with their local branches.

Digital banking services, including ATMs, mobile banking, and online banking apps, remain operational during these closures, barring any bank-specific maintenance announcements. However, transactions involving negotiable instruments (cheques, promissory notes) will be unavailable. Customers are urged to plan accordingly to avoid disruption due to the extended holiday period.
