**Amroha, Uttar Pradesh:** A 30-year-old mother of three, formerly known as Shabnam, converted to Hinduism and married an 18-year-old 12th-grade student in a temple ceremony in Amroha district on Wednesday. The woman, now identified as Shivani, has been married twice before and has no living parents. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the marriage, but no complaints have been filed.
Shivani’s previous marriages ended in divorce. Her second husband, Taufiq, became disabled in a 2011 accident. She recently divorced Taufiq to marry the teenager. The teenager’s father has publicly supported the union, expressing his hope for the couple’s happiness.
The marriage occurs under the shadow of Uttar Pradesh’s anti-conversion law, which prohibits religious conversions through force, deceit, or fraudulent means. However, at this time, no legal action has been initiated.
