Mon Apr 07 07:35:22 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Suspends Cashless Healthcare Services Due to Unpaid Bills

**Vijayawada, April 7, 2025** – Cashless healthcare services under the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva scheme in Andhra Pradesh have been suspended, affecting thousands of low-income families. Private network hospitals, owed approximately ₹3,200 crore by the state government, ceased participation on Monday, April 7th, citing unsustainable financial burdens.

The outstanding dues, accumulated since the previous YSRCP government, have reached ₹3,500 crore under the current TDP-led NDA administration. While the government recently released ₹300 crore, the A.P. Speciality Hospitals’ Association claims this is insufficient to cover operational expenses and outstanding payments. The association notified the government of their intention to halt services in early March.

Despite a virtual meeting with Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva CEO P. Ravi Subash last week, who reportedly aimed to secure ₹600 crore within a week, no firm assurances were given. Association president K. Vijay Kumar stated that the lack of response from government officials left them with no alternative but to suspend services.

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y.S. Sharmila strongly criticized the government’s inaction, accusing them of apathy and potentially causing deaths through denial of treatment. She demanded immediate negotiations with hospital representatives and labeled any resulting fatalities as murder by the state. The situation leaves thousands of Below Poverty Line families without access to crucial cashless healthcare services.
