**Rayachoti, Andhra Pradesh –** A senior government official was tragically killed and four others injured in a head-on car collision on Monday, April 7th, 2025, in Annamayya district. S. Ramadevi, Special Deputy Collector of the Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi Project (Phase-II), died at the scene after the accident near Sambepalle on the Rayachoti-Chittoor highway.
Ms. Ramadevi was traveling to Rayachoti from a project site in Piler to attend a public grievance meeting when the accident occurred. The impact left her car severely damaged. Local villagers assisted in rescuing her from the wreckage using farm tools, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Rayachoti Government Hospital.
Two of Ms. Ramadevi’s subordinates sustained critical injuries and are receiving treatment in Rayachoti, with potential transfer to Bengaluru if necessary. Two additional individuals in the other vehicle were also injured.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the district administration. Collector Sridhar Chamakuri immediately canceled the weekly grievance cell and rushed to the hospital, ordering the best possible medical care for the injured. Police have opened an investigation into the accident.
