**RAYACHOTI, Andhra Pradesh –** A senior government official was killed and four others injured in a head-on car collision on Monday in Annamayya district, Andhra Pradesh. Special Deputy Collector S. Rama Devi, overseeing the Handri Neeva Sujala Sraganthi Project (Phase-II), died at the scene after the accident on the Rayachoti-Chittoor State highway near Sambepalle.

Two of the injured officials sustained critical injuries. Villagers helped rescue Ms. Rama Devi from the wreckage, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival at Rayachoti Government Hospital. The injured are receiving treatment at the same hospital, with the possibility of transfer to Bengaluru if necessary.

The accident prompted a strong response from state officials. Annamayaya District Collector Sridhar Chamakuri cancelled the weekly grievance cell and visited the hospital, ordering comprehensive medical care for the injured. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock and directed the administration to provide quality medical care. Several ministers, including the Transport Minister and the Roads and Buildings Minister, also visited the hospital, offered condolences, and ensured the injured would receive proper treatment.

Police have opened an investigation into the cause of the accident. The tragic death of Ms. Rama Devi has sent shockwaves through the district administration. The government has pledged support to her family.
