**Chennai, April 7, 2025** – SIMS Hospital in Vadapalani launched “Care Bears – Nurturing the Future,” a year-long initiative providing free health checks for children under five in Chennai’s government kindergarten schools. The program, inaugurated on World Health Day by North Chennai MP Kalanidhi Veeraswamy, aims to build on Tamil Nadu’s progress in reducing infant mortality.

Dr. Veeraswamy highlighted the state’s historical commitment to public well-being, citing the efforts of past and present leaders in addressing health and poverty. Raju Sivasamy, Vice President of SIMS Hospital, explained that the initiative, led by the hospital’s Paediatrics Department, offers comprehensive care including regular screenings, early diagnosis, nutritional guidance, and parental education.

A team will visit participating schools monthly to screen children (0-5 years) for growth parameters (height, weight), developmental milestones, cognitive and emotional well-being, chest deformities, dental hygiene, and sensory health (vision and hearing).
