**Mumbai, April 7, 2025** – Virat Kohli became the first Indian cricketer to reach 13,000 runs in T20 cricket during a match against Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He achieved the milestone with a six off the first ball he faced, bowled by Jasprit Bumrah, marking a spectacular return for the Mumbai star after injury.
Kohli is the fifth player globally to reach this landmark. While Chris Gayle holds the record for the fastest to 13,000 T20 runs (381 matches), Kohli achieved the feat in 386 matches, securing second place in terms of speed.
In the match, Kohli scored a quickfire 67 runs off 42 balls, including two sixes and eight fours, before being caught by Naman Dhir off Hardik Pandya’s bowling. At the time of reporting, RCB was 122/2 after 13 overs. Mumbai Indians, winning the toss, elected to field.
