Sun Apr 06 05:25:10 UTC 2025: ## Cheetah Mom and Cubs Drink Water Offered by Kuno National Park Staff in Heartwarming Video

**Kuno National Park, Madhya Pradesh, India** – A heartwarming video from Kuno National Park shows a female cheetah named Jwala and her four cubs calmly drinking water offered by a member of the park’s monitoring team. The video, which has gone viral, depicts the team member pouring water into a bowl and calling to Jwala, who immediately approaches and drinks, followed by her cubs.

The incident highlights the ongoing water scarcity in the park and the dedicated efforts of staff to keep the animals hydrated. Jwala and her cubs had successfully hunted goats prior to receiving the offered water. This interaction also demonstrates the growing trust between the cheetahs and their human caretakers, with local wildlife volunteers (“Cheetah Mitras”) reporting the animals are recognizing voices and commands.

Currently, at least 17 cheetahs are thriving in Kuno, hunting and expanding their territory. However, the cheetahs’ integration hasn’t been without incident. Earlier this month, Jwala and her cubs ventured outside the park for the first time, resulting in a confrontation with villagers after they preyed on livestock. Forest officials successfully guided the animals back to safety.

The heartwarming video underscores the progress of Project Cheetah, an initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reintroduce cheetahs to India after their extinction. A total of 20 cheetahs have been brought to India from Namibia and South Africa under the project.
