**Colombo, Sri Lanka –** Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the prestigious Mithra Vibhushana medal by Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on April 5th, 2025. The highest civilian honour of Sri Lanka, the award recognizes Mr. Modi’s exceptional contributions to strengthening India-Sri Lanka ties and promoting shared cultural and spiritual heritage. This is the 22nd international award conferred upon PM Modi.

The Mithra Vibhushana medal, instituted in 2008, features symbols representing the shared Buddhist heritage and enduring friendship between the two nations. Speaking at the ceremony at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, PM Modi stated the honour was not just for him but for all 1.4 billion Indians.
