Sat Apr 05 20:38:55 UTC 2025: ## Kochi Metro Feeder Buses See Rising Ridership
**KOCHI, April 6, 2025** – Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) reported a significant increase in ridership on its electric feeder bus network. Since the launch of 15 air-conditioned buses on January 16th, over 200,000 commuters have used the service.
Initial concerns about low ridership on a new High Court-MG Road circular route have been alleviated, with daily passenger numbers doubling in recent weeks to an average of 773. The route, serviced by buses every 10 minutes, saw a dramatic increase from 1,556 passengers in the first week to 5,415 in the week ending April 4th.
Overall, the feeder bus network averages 3,102 daily passengers across various routes. The Aluva-airport route alone has transported over 100,000 passengers, averaging 1,350 daily riders. Another popular route to Infopark sees an average daily ridership of 890.
Further expansion is planned, with new services expected soon on the Kadavanthra-Panampilly Nagar corridor. However, KMRL is facing criticism for the lack of feeder buses on the busy Vyttila-Menaka circular route. Officials stated that this and other routes will be addressed as the fleet expands, particularly focusing on the city’s eastward growth beyond the Edappally-Aroor bypass.
