Sat Apr 05 19:45:00 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Airports to Get Boost as Union Minister Seeks State Cooperation

**New Delhi, April 6, 2025** – Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has urged the Telangana government to cooperate in the development of airports in Adilabad and Warangal. Reddy’s appeal follows a letter from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh confirming the central government’s readiness to develop the disused IAF airfield in Adilabad for joint civil-military use.

The initiative aims to increase air travel accessibility and affordability for the region through the UDAN scheme, boosting trade and economic development. Reddy, also the Telangana BJP president, accused the state’s Congress government of obstructing the project despite previous requests.

A significant hurdle was recently cleared for the Warangal airport, with the GMR’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport granting a waiver to allow its development. The Adilabad airport, located near a major agricultural hub, is expected to create numerous jobs. The minister emphasized that swift land acquisition and cooperation from the Telangana government are crucial for the timely completion of these projects.
