**VISAKHAPATNAM, April 5, 2025** – An eight-month-old tribal girl from Araku mandal in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam district has regained her sight after undergoing successful glaucoma surgery at Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital.

The infant’s father, Siriki Ranjit Kumar, noticed persistent watering in her right eye and sought medical attention during an outreach camp. Following an examination by Dr. Samruddhi Deshmukh, the baby was referred to the main hospital in Visakhapatnam for specialized care.

A team of glaucoma surgeons, led by Dr. T. Raveendra, Director, CQI and Research HOD, Glaucoma Department of Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital, performed a trabeculotomy, a procedure that successfully restored the baby’s vision. Post-surgery evaluations confirmed complete vision restoration.

The baby’s parents expressed deep gratitude to the Sankar Foundation and its medical team. A. Krishna Kumar, managing trustee, and K. Radhakrishnan, general manager of the foundation, also congratulated the surgical team on their successful intervention.
