**COIMBATORE, April 5, 2025** – Coimbatore District Police have arrested three minor boys for the sexual assault of a 16-year-old hearing and speech-impaired girl from Assam. The assault occurred near Thondamuthur on March 31st.
The victim, who lives with her mother near Thondamuthur, left home to visit a shop but returned late in the evening. Using a sign language interpreter, police learned she had been taken to a deserted area on a two-wheeler and assaulted by a group of boys. Her mother reported the incident to the All Women Police Station, Perur, on Wednesday.
Subsequent investigation revealed that three minors were involved in the assault. All three were arrested on Thursday and remanded to the Observation Home for Juveniles in Coimbatore. The case highlights the vulnerability of disabled individuals and underscores the need for continued efforts to protect children.
