**Chennai, April 4, 2025** – A 24-year-old woman, Vigneshwari, was found murdered in a burial ground in Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu. Vigneshwari, who worked at a private firm, and her fiancé, Deepan (27), were planning to marry despite opposition from their families due to caste differences.
The couple, who had gone shopping for their upcoming betrothal ceremony scheduled for Friday, were involved in an argument Wednesday morning. Police suspect Vigneshwari was beaten to death following a dispute where she pressured Deepan to immediately register their marriage. Deepan is currently in police custody after being questioned. His mobile phone was switched off prior to his apprehension. The Kancheepuram district police are investigating the case.
