Fri Apr 04 01:10:00 UTC 2025: ## West Bengal Braces for More Rain, But Little Relief from Heat and Humidity

**Kolkata, [Date]:** While recent showers have provided temporary respite from the intense heat in West Bengal, the state is unlikely to see a significant drop in temperatures, according to the meteorological department. Instead, the upcoming days promise more rain, accompanied by potentially increased humidity and discomfort.

The weather forecast predicts light rain and thunderstorms in coastal and western districts of South Bengal on Thursday. This will be accompanied by gusty winds up to 30-40 kilometers per hour. Rainfall is expected to intensify from Friday, with heavy thunderstorms predicted for Purulia, Bankura, West Medinipur, Jhargram, and West Burdwan. Coastal and eastern districts will see increased rainfall by Sunday and Monday, with widespread thunderstorms predicted across the state, including Kolkata, on Tuesday.

While Kolkata’s maximum temperature remains near normal, with a high of 34.4°C and a low of 26.3°C recorded on Thursday, high humidity levels (47-90%) will contribute to oppressive conditions. The increased moisture in the air is expected to persist throughout next week, limiting any significant relief from the heat.

North Bengal will also experience rainfall, with showers predicted for Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Jalpaiguri on Friday and thunderstorms in other northern districts, including Malda, from Sunday onwards.

Despite the forecast rain, the meteorological department clarifies that the heat will persist, with high humidity levels expected to maintain uncomfortable conditions across West Bengal next week.
