**Bargur, Tamil Nadu –** Five days after the discovery of human remains in the Bargur Hills, police have arrested two men in connection with the murder of 25-year-old Sakthivel. Sakthivel’s charred remains were found by forest staff on March 31st near Kargekandi East Beat and Bodamalai South Beat. He had been missing for a week, prompting a missing person’s report filed by his father.

Investigations revealed that Sakthivel’s brother-in-law, Venkatesh, was the prime suspect. Venkatesh, along with Sakthivel and two other relatives, Rajendran and Kumar, had gone to the forest to illegally harvest sandalwood. Venkatesh confessed to killing Sakthivel with a sickle due to suspicions of an affair between Sakthivel and his wife. He then burned the body with the help of Rajendran and Kumar.

Venkatesh and Rajendran have been arrested. A search is underway for Kumar, who remains at large. The initial story of gunshots in the forest was disproven by forest officials, leading to Venkatesh’s confession. The case highlights the dangers of illegal logging and the tragic consequences of jealousy.
