**Puducherry, April 4, 2025** – Members of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) staged a demonstration in Puducherry today to protest the recently passed Waqf Amendment Bill. The protest, part of a larger state-wide demonstration in Tamil Nadu, saw scores of party members gather near Anna Square, chanting slogans against the BJP government and demanding the bill’s repeal. Led by TVK vice-president Puthiyavan, the protesters argued the bill infringes on the rights of the Muslim community. The demonstration was organized in response to a call from TVK founder-president and actor-turned-politician Vijay.
