CHARLESTON, SC – American players continued their strong showing at the Credit One Charleston Open, with four more advancing to the Round of 16 on Wednesday. This follows Tuesday’s success where three Americans secured their spots in the next round.
Top seed Jessica Pegula led the charge, dominating her match against qualifier Iryna Shymanovich with a 6-0, 6-3 victory. Pegula, who recently reached the Miami Open final, acknowledged Shymanovich’s improved play in the second set but ultimately secured the win. She will next face Ajla Tomljanovic.
