**Chennai, April 4, 2025** – Three men have been arrested by the North Beach police for allegedly embezzling ₹11.63 lakh from a bank account belonging to the Chennai District Collector. The funds were designated as relief for families of individuals who died while working abroad.
The embezzlement was discovered during an account audit, prompting the Collector’s Personal Assistant to file a complaint. A subsequent police investigation revealed that the suspects, revenue inspectors S. Promod (30) and A. Subramani (31), and their associate M. Dinesh (30), had withdrawn the money using forged cheques during their employment at the Collectorate in 2023-24. All three men have been taken into custody.
