Fri Apr 04 14:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Lucknow Super Giants Owner Challenges Captain Rishabh Pant Amidst Mixed IPL Start

**Lucknow, India** – The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are facing a challenging start to the IPL 2025 season, prompting owner Sanjiv Goenka to publicly challenge captain Rishabh Pant. Despite securing a win against SunRisers Hyderabad, LSG has suffered losses to Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, leaving them seventh in the points table.

Pant’s own batting performance has been underwhelming, scoring only 17 runs in three matches. Following the Punjab Kings defeat, Goenka engaged in a visible conversation with Pant on the field, reminiscent of a similar interaction last year with former captain KL Rahul.

Goenka, however, remains confident in Pant’s leadership potential. In an interview with JioHotstar, he reiterated LSG’s commitment to Pant, acquired for a hefty INR 27 crore in the mega-auction. “We planned the team around him,” Goenka stated, adding, “I believe he’s a great leader… his best leadership is yet to come.” He emphasized the franchise’s desire for a fearless captain who trusts their instincts, qualities he sees in Pant.

Goenka highlighted the difference in LSG’s team dynamic this season, attributing it to Pant’s strong leadership intent. “Every player in the team has intent, a fierce desire to win and is strongly motivated,” he said.

LSG will next face Mumbai Indians, currently in sixth place with an equal number of points. The match promises to be a crucial test for Pant and the team as they strive to improve their position in the tournament.
