**Deir Al Balah (Gaza Strip), April 4, 2025** – Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 100 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip, escalating the ongoing conflict. The attacks, which Israel claims target Hamas command centers, have hit civilian areas, including a school sheltering at least 27 people, resulting in numerous civilian casualties, among them 14 children and 5 women. The death toll is expected to rise due to critical injuries among the wounded.
The Israeli military has issued further evacuation orders for parts of northern Gaza, warning of intensified operations and urging residents to move to shelters. Many Palestinians are fleeing on foot, carrying their belongings. The UN estimates that around 280,000 Palestinians have been displaced since the recent ceasefire ended.
Israel’s actions include a month-long blockade on food, fuel, and humanitarian aid, exacerbating the suffering of Gazan civilians. This blockade has been condemned by human rights groups as a war crime. Hamas, meanwhile, continues to demand the release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the remaining hostages held in Israel.
The escalating violence comes after Israel announced plans to establish a security corridor across Gaza and potentially resettle much of its population, a plan condemned by Palestinians and international human rights experts as a violation of international law. The conflict, which began in October 2023, has already claimed the lives of over 50,000 Palestinians according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, and around 1,200 Israelis, according to Israeli sources.
Further fueling tensions, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Hungary amidst an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for alleged war crimes. Hungary announced it would begin withdrawing from the ICC.
A separate airstrike in Sidon, Lebanon, resulted in at least two deaths, marking the first such incident in the city since a ceasefire with Hezbollah.
The situation remains extremely volatile, with both sides showing no signs of de-escalation. International concern is growing over the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza and the potential for further escalation of the conflict.
