COIMBATORE, April 4, 2025 – Nine individuals arrested in February and March for possession of synthetic drugs have had the Goondas Act invoked against them by the Coimbatore City Police. The accused, ranging in age from 23 to 46 and hailing from Coimbatore and various parts of Kerala, were found with 69 grams of methamphetamine and 20 LSD stamps.

The Race Course police initiated the proceedings under the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act of 1982 (Goondas Act), classifying the individuals as drug offenders. The decision followed recommendations from Assistant Commissioner T.H. Ganesh and Inspector R. Arjun Kumar, and was ultimately approved by City Police Commissioner A. Saravana Sundar. The arrests highlight a continued crackdown on drug trafficking in the region.
